Boulder Opal Cabochons, Page 3

These stones are not available for purchase separately.

These opals are found in Australia. Boulder Opal is a thin layer of opal that is within a very tough stone composed mostly of iron. Because the layer of color is thin, the surface of the stone is often irregular and the brown matrix will be exposed in spots. Because of the strength of the iron matrix this stone is very durable.

I am now doing only limited custom work, but if you see a stone you like and are interested in having a piece of jewelry made with it, please email or call me referring to the stone by name and number and we will determine if I can do a custom piece for you.

I left these stones "larger than life" so that you can see the detail. The ruler tells you the true size (inches).
