Fact: Sugilite is a stone of fairly recent
discovery. It does not form well shaped crystals
but is usually massive; therefore, it is used as
a cabachon for jewelry. The polished stones are
mostly opaque with an almost waxy luster and a
deep reddish purple color. It can be very dark,
almost black, to a nice pale pinkish mauve. It
may have black, swirly lines and spots of
yellow.
It is found in South Africa.
Fancy: It is believed by some to be a
stone of a very high conscience that would help
one adapt to circumstances. It would be
particularly efficient for a new beginning in a
spiritual sense - with its powerful vibrations,
would drive one to the highest spirituality and
teach one humility.
